Senior Kitty KATT with Urinary Obstruction need a home and food
This senior kitty has a history of urinary obstruction and needs follow-up vet care and potential PU surgery ASAP. He should go to a local vet or vet hospital today. He needs confirmed placement by 6pm on 1/25 at the latest.

No Microchip Number (If Applicable): History : O/S- has a history of multiple urinary obstructions that were treated with U-cath placement. Owner noted he was having similar signs today and so brought him to ACC. Subjective: BARH. No csvd Observed Behavior - Hissing, growling, had to be netted/sedated Evidence of Cruelty seen - no Evidence of Trauma seen - no Objective P = 220bpm R = eupneic BCS 9/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: mild to moderate dental tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MN, large, firm, unexpressable bladder on palpation. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment 1) Obese 2) Urinary Obstruction (multiple offender)- suspect secondary to FIC, but cannot r/o uroliths, neoplasia CBC: wnl Chemistry: Mild hyperglycemia (188) T4: wnl Prognosis: fair with appropriate treatment Plan: Procedure for unblocking: - Sedated with Telazol 0.1ml/lb - Placed IVC and gave Buprenorphine 0.02 mg/kg IV once - Maintained on isoflourane and LRS @ 40mls/hr throughout procedure - A 5Fr Red Rubber Catheter was placed into the urethra- catheter was placed with some mild retropulsion - ~120mls of hemorrhagic urine was removed from the bladder and it was flushed with multiple rounds of sterile saline - The catheter was sutured to the prepuce and a radiograph confirmed proper placement of the catheter - Recovered uneventfully Start simbadol 0.24 mg/kg SQ SID x 7 days Start Prazosin 1mg PO SID x 7 days Continue IVF @ 25mls/hr and Monitor urinary output Seek NH placement- recommend PU surgery This animal came from: Found Stray Origin Address Spay/Neuter status No Date of Intake 24-Jan-2019 Is this cat having litter box issues? Previously lived with: 1 adult ,1 child How is this cat around strangers? Owner stated Katt is friendly and outgoing around strangers. When he first sees you owner stated he will want to sniff you first. How is this cat around children? Owner stated he liked with their 8 year old daughter and he will be relaxed and playful around her. How is this cat around other cats? Owner stated Katt been around a female cat outside and he will be respectful around her. How is this cat around dogs? Owner stated he spent time with a small dog and was respectful around it. Behavior Notes During intake Katt began to hiss and did not allow any handling during intake. owner stated Katt was stressed out. Bite history: None Energy level/descriptors: Medium Has this cat ever had any medical issues? Yes Medical Notes Katt has had an ongoing blockage which caused him not to urinate. For a New Family to Know Owner stated Katt is a friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow and confident cat. He does not like to be groomed and he does no like to be held for to long. He has a medium activity level. He does not have any litter box issues. He is litter box trained. He uses an uncovered litter box and clumping litter. He likes to play stuffed and catnip toys. He also like to play fetch. He is only kept indoors. He sleeps in the owners bed. He eats prescription diet urinary care food both wet and dry food about twice a day. He likes to scratch on carpets.
